DND Encourages Filipinos to Embrace Bayanihan Spirit This Christmas

·

The Department of National Defense (DND) has called on Filipinos to embody the spirit of bayanihan, emphasizing community and cooperation, this Christmas season. Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. highlighted the importance of extending hope and support to those affected by recent calamities, as the nation celebrates the birth of Christ. Teodoro urged the public to reflect on their blessings and share them with those in need, fostering a sense of unity and compassion. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of military personnel who remain on duty, protecting the nation’s peace and freedom, and encouraged prayers for them. The DND’s message comes in the wake of devastating storms, including Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, which caused widespread damage across several provinces. In a related message, Presidential Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. encouraged Filipinos to be instruments of peace, echoing the teachings of Jesus on kindness, humility, and generosity. Additionally, Fr. Roy Bellen from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila reminded the faithful that Christmas is a time to trust in God, who understands human struggles, having lived as a man himself.
