Iloilo International Airport Back in Operation After Brief Runway Closure

·

Iloilo International Airport has resumed its regular services on Monday after a brief suspension of operations on Sunday due to necessary repairs on Runway 02. The temporary closure, which lasted from 7:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., was required to fix two potholes, impacting a total of nine domestic flights. The disruptions included three cancellations, five delays, and one flight diversion.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) confirmed that the airlines involved took steps to assist affected passengers. Iloilo Airport Manager Manuela Luisa Palma emphasized the importance of the closure, stating, “We understand the inconvenience this may cause to travelers and the local economy. However, ensuring the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft is our utmost priority.”

CAAP Director General Manuel Tamayo also highlighted the necessity of the runway repairs to prevent potential safety risks and maintain high safety standards. With the repairs completed, the airport is now fully operational, continuing to serve as a vital link for travelers in the region.
