Senator Gatchalian Advocates for Local Business Permit Offices to Boost Economic Growth

·

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is pushing for the establishment of Business Permit and Licensing Offices (BPLOs) in all local government units (LGUs) across the Philippines. This initiative, outlined in Senate Bill 1278, known as the BPLO Act, aims to streamline business processes and foster economic development. Gatchalian emphasized that having a dedicated BPLO in every city and municipality would simplify business transactions, making government services more efficient and accessible. He highlighted the success of a similar initiative he implemented during his tenure as mayor of Valenzuela, which he hopes will inspire other LGUs. The senator believes that institutionalizing BPLOs will create a more supportive environment for businesses, particularly in rural areas, encouraging investments and job creation. Gatchalian, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, stressed the importance of equipping LGUs to meet the needs of investors, especially small businesses and startups, to drive economic growth.
