In a tense standoff in Taguig City, a 28-year-old construction worker known as ‘Raymond’ was taken into custody after holding his family hostage. The incident unfolded in Barangay Bagumbayan on Thursday, December 19, 2024, stemming from a heated domestic dispute. Raymond, who demanded money for alcohol and assaulted his live-in partner, escalated the situation by confining her and their three children, including an 8-month-old, inside their home. The family’s plea for help reached the Barangay Bagumbayan Security Force, which quickly alerted the Taguig City Police Substation 12. A SWAT team and intelligence agents were dispatched to the scene. Amidst the chaos, Raymond attempted to attack the responding officers. The standoff concluded before noon with his arrest, ensuring the safety of the hostages. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported that Raymond faces charges including illegal detention, direct assault, alarm and scandal, and unlawful possession of weapons.
