In a concerted effort to alleviate traffic congestion, the Department of Public Works and Highways in Bicol (DPWH-5) has ramped up its resources and workforce to hasten repairs on the Andaya Highway in Camarines Sur. Regional Director Virgilio Eduarte has mobilized additional personnel, trucks, and machinery from various district engineering offices across the province to speed up the repair process.
Eduarte has directed the second and third district offices of Camarines Sur to support the first district, while additional help from the fourth district of Camarines Sur and the first district of Sorsogon will aid the Camarines Norte District Engineering office. These reinforcements are set to continue until the temporary repairs are fully executed.
The goal is to restore the use of the two lanes by this weekend, according to DPWH-5. In a related development, the Land Transportation Office in Bicol (LTO-5) has introduced drones to enhance traffic monitoring and enforcement along the Sipocot-Lupi-Ragay route in Camarines Sur. The use of drones allows for quicker and more accurate assessments of traffic conditions.
These drones offer real-time surveillance, enabling authorities to promptly spot and deal with traffic offenders, particularly those driving against the flow of traffic. LTO-Bicol aims to use this technology as a deterrent against traffic law violations.
