BCDA Engages in Preliminary Discussions with MVP Group for Camp John Hay Management

·

In a move to enhance the development of northern Luzon, the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) has initiated exploratory talks with the MVP Group, led by Manny V. Pangilinan, regarding the management of the 240-hectare leased area in Camp John Hay, Baguio City. This development follows a Supreme Court ruling that mandated the private developer, Camp John Hay Development Corp., to relinquish control of the area back to the government.

During a recent meeting, BCDA executives and Pangilinan discussed potential investments that could stimulate growth in the region. The MVP Group expressed interest in expanding its footprint in Baguio and the broader Cordillera region, with a particular focus on Camp John Hay. The group is already a significant stakeholder in the area through its involvement with Philex Mining Corp. in Benguet.

Leilani Barlongay-Macasaet, BCDA’s vice president for public affairs, highlighted that Pangilinan is committed to preserving and enhancing the historical significance of Camp John Hay. She noted that Pangilinan has a personal attachment to the area, reminiscing about its unique charm and his fond memories of Baguio.

BCDA president and CEO Joshua Bingcang views the potential collaboration with the MVP Group as a crucial step towards advancing the development of the region, signaling a promising future for Camp John Hay and its surrounding areas.
