In response to the anticipated holiday travel rush, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has announced the issuance of 956 special permits for public utility vehicles (PUVs). This move, effective from December 20, 2024, to January 10, 2025, aims to accommodate the increased number of passengers during the festive season. LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz III emphasized that these permits will enhance travel options, particularly for those traveling to and from the provinces. The permits were granted from a total of 988 applications and cover various types of PUVs, with a focus on buses to meet the heightened demand. Guadiz highlighted that the initiative not only aims to increase the number of available vehicles but also to ensure safer and more enjoyable holiday celebrations. He stressed the importance of safety measures and efficient terminal operations to facilitate a smooth travel experience during this busy period.
