MANILA – Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr., Special Assistant to the President, has strongly condemned the recent violent attack in Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, emphasizing that such acts of violence are unacceptable in the nation. In his statement, Lagdameo expressed deep sympathy for the victims, Jinn Utto Lumenda-Basalo and her infant daughter, who were tragically killed during an ambush on December 12 while traveling to Barangay Gaunan. The scene of the crime revealed .45-caliber pistol shells, indicating the use of firearms in the attack. The driver of the mini van, Nunokan Manalindo, a local from Rajah Buayan, also lost his life in the incident. According to Rajah Buayan Mayor Bai Maruja Ampatuan Mastura, the deceased woman was married to one of her military escorts. Authorities are exploring the possibility that the ambush was motivated by a family feud, known locally as ‘rido’. Lagdameo assured that the national government is actively collaborating with local law enforcement to conduct a thorough and rapid investigation to apprehend those responsible and prevent future occurrences. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the safety and security of all citizens, stating that acts of violence and impunity will not be tolerated. Lagdameo also committed to ongoing efforts to achieve enduring peace and stability throughout the region.
