In a tragic incident in Pikit, North Cotabato, an Islamic teacher named Yasser Mama Abdullah was brutally shot and killed by two assailants. The attack took place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday outside the annex of Noorul Eilm Academy Foundation Inc. in Barangay Inug-ug. Abdullah, who had recently passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and received his results on December 13, was also serving as the treasurer of Barangay Macabual in Tugunan town, part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s Special Geographic Area (SGA-BARMM). After being shot in the head, he was rushed to Cruzado Medical Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Following Islamic traditions, he was buried soon after. Major John Arvin Cambang, the Pikit police chief, stated that the police are actively pursuing the killers and are considering various motives for the murder, although the identities of the attackers are still unknown. This incident comes shortly after the unrelated killing of two senior high school students from the same school near Barangay Inug-ug on December 3.
