Iloilo’s Noche Buena Products Assured to be Amply Supplied and Priced Fairly

·

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has confirmed that Iloilo City has an ample supply of Noche Buena products, all priced within the suggested retail prices (SRP). During a press conference held on December 19, 2024, in Iloilo City, DTI Development Specialist Ma. Dorlita Chavez emphasized that the market is well-stocked and prices have remained stable, with many retailers adhering to or even undercutting the SRP.

Chavez highlighted that DTI Iloilo is actively monitoring 239 shelf keeping units to ensure that prices do not exceed the SRP by more than 10 percent. This vigilance helps maintain fair pricing for consumers during the holiday season.

In addition to food products, Chavez announced that starting December 23, DTI will begin monitoring the sale of firecrackers in designated zones. She noted that there are currently 14 licensed manufacturers and nine brands available, although none of these manufacturers are based in Western Visayas, with most coming from Bulacan. Sellers will be required to remove any firecrackers from display that are not from licensed manufacturers or on the approved product list.
