Female NPA Rebel Killed in Clash with Philippine Army in Oriental Mindoro

In a recent confrontation in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, a female member of the New People’s Army (NPA) lost her life during a skirmish with the Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Division (2ID). The incident occurred on Wednesday in Sitio Tinisan, Barangay San Vicente, following a tip-off from local residents about the presence of armed individuals. The ensuing firefight resulted in the death of one NPA member, with the military recovering two M16 rifles and various war materials from the site. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. Additionally, a soldier sustained injuries but is reported to be in stable condition after receiving medical attention. Lt. Col. Erwin Glenn Romero of the 4th Infantry Battalion noted signs of blood at the scene, indicating possible injuries among other rebels. Maj. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr., the 2ID commander, praised the community’s role in the operation’s success and stressed the importance of their continued cooperation in achieving peace and development in the region. Balaoro also expressed condolences to the family of the fallen NPA member and reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating insurgency in Mindoro and the surrounding areas.
