Comelec to Release Names of Regional Parties for BARMM 2025 Elections

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced plans to disclose the identities and nominees of the Regional Parliament Political Party (RPPP) groups participating in the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections in May 2025. According to Resolution No. 11090, issued on December 18 and released to the public on Thursday, the Comelec’s seven-member panel has instructed the Education and Information Department to feature the names of seven organizations and their 40 nominees in two widely circulated newspapers. Additionally, the Information Technology Department has been tasked with uploading this information to the official Comelec website at www.comelec.gov.ph. The resolution emphasizes the need for widespread dissemination of this information through both print and digital channels. The organizations listed include Bangsamoro Party (BAPA), Bangsamoro People’s Democratic Party (Raayat Democratic Party), BARMM Grand Coalition (BGC), Mahardika Party (Mahardika), Moro Ako Party (Moro Ako), Progresibong Bangsamoro Party (Pro Bangsamoro Party), and United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP). The resolution also details the gender distribution of candidates, adhering to the Bangsamoro Electoral Code’s requirement that at least 30% of nominees be women. For instance, BAPA has 27 male candidates (67.50%) and 13 female candidates (32.50%); Raayat Democratic Party lists 28 males (70%) and 12 females (30%); BGC has 26 males (65%) and 14 females (35%); Mahardika Party includes 27 males (67.50%) and 13 females (32.50%); Moro Ako Party has 15 males (37.50%) and 25 females (62.50%); Progresibong Bangsamoro Party counts 28 males (70%) and 12 females (30%); and UBJP has 28 males (70%) and 12 females (30%).
