In a robust week-long campaign against crime, the Central Visayas police force in Cebu City managed to confiscate illegal drugs valued at over PHP63.6 million. The operation, spanning from December 13 to December 18, led to the arrest of numerous suspects and the seizure of various firearms. Brig. Gen. Roy Parena, who oversees the Police Regional Office-7, detailed that the efforts resulted in the recovery of 7.9 kilograms of shabu, estimated at PHP54.1 million, and the apprehension of 104 drug suspects across multiple raids. A significant bust occurred on December 16, where police nabbed a 27-year-old high-profile suspect with PHP1.3 million worth of shabu, and in a separate incident, seized PHP2.5 million worth of shabu from an e-bike driver in San Roque, Talisay City. The intensity of the crackdown peaked on December 17 with 11 operations that netted 612.24 grams of shabu, valued at PHP4.1 million, and led to the arrest of 11 suspects. The following day saw 14 operations, resulting in the confiscation of PHP1.06 million worth of shabu and the detention of 21 drug suspects. On December 19, an additional 10 operations were reported, with PHP555,288 worth of shabu seized and 31 individuals arrested across the region. All suspects are now facing drug-related charges in various courts. Brig. Gen. Parena attributed the success of the operations to heightened efforts to combat narcotics, emphasizing the region’s dedication to ensuring public safety.
