Senate Bolsters Security Following Online Bomb Threat

In response to a bomb threat posted on its social media platform on December 17, 2024, the Senate has ramped up its security measures. Although the threat was not considered credible, Senate Spokesperson Arnel Jose Bañas emphasized that the safety of senators, staff, and visitors remains the top priority. The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms has introduced enhanced security protocols, and a comprehensive search of the Senate premises was conducted by security and law enforcement teams. Bañas stated that the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms is collaborating with relevant agencies to address the issue. He reassured the public that the safety and security of everyone within the Senate is of paramount importance. The Senate has called on the public to support these heightened security efforts.
