In a significant event held at The Marison Hotel in Legazpi City on December 17, 2024, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) celebrated its vital partnerships with local government units, individuals, and other stakeholders crucial for delivering effective government services in the Bicol region. The ceremony, known as the Oragon Awards, was a platform to recognize the collaborative efforts that have significantly impacted the community.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma expressed his gratitude towards the awardees, emphasizing their role in supporting the agency’s initiatives aimed at improving service quality for Bicolanos. He highlighted the term ‘oragon’ as a symbol of the awardees’ dedication and success. Laguesma stressed the importance of these partnerships, stating that DOLE’s effectiveness heavily relies on the trust and cooperation of its partners.
Looking forward to 2025, Laguesma called for an even stronger collaboration with the awardees. DOLE 5 Director Imelda Gatinao praised the resilience of Bicolanos, noting that the ‘oragon’ spirit was evident in the awardees’ perseverance and collaborative efforts.
The ceremony honored numerous local government units across Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon provinces. Additionally, other government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of Public Works and Highways were recognized for their exceptional support.
Media partners, including Brigada News FM, Radyo Pilipinas, and others, received the ‘Voice of Partnership Awards’ for their role in disseminating information. Various individuals and groups were also awarded the ‘Kabuhayan Awards’ for their contributions to livelihood projects, with monetary rewards given to the best performers in different categories.
