The Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LMPC) in Cebu is gearing up to launch a Kadiwa Center, a significant expansion from the existing Kadiwa Stores. This initiative, announced by LMPC’s marketing officer Melanie Petalcorin on December 16, 2024, aims to enhance the cooperative’s ability to supply fresh produce directly to consumers at affordable prices. The Kadiwa Center will serve as a central hub, distributing goods to various Kadiwa Stores and supporting more farmers by offering a broader range of products.
The Kadiwa program, initiated by the government, facilitates direct sales from farmers to consumers, cutting out middlemen and ensuring fresher, cheaper products. Petalcorin emphasized that the new center will streamline this process even further, benefiting both farmers and consumers. To kickstart this expansion, LMPC has collaborated with the Department of Agriculture-7 and the Philippine Carabao Center-7 to open a new Kadiwa Store in Barangay Pari-an, Cebu City.
This move aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s ‘Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa’ program, which focuses on increasing agricultural productivity and income. Alongside the Kadiwa Store, LMPC has also introduced the Dairy Box, offering buffalo milk and other dairy products to the public.
