The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office-Calabarzon has significantly enhanced its disaster response strategy by adding 14 new satellite warehouses across the region. This expansion increases the total number of warehouses to 72, aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of aid delivery to disaster-stricken areas. Jessie Jerusalem, head of the Regional Resource Operation Section of the Disaster Response and Management Division, emphasized that the strategic placement of these warehouses will allow for quicker assistance to affected communities. The new facilities join the existing 67 warehouses, which are operated in collaboration with local government units (LGUs) in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon. These warehouses, stocked with essential food and non-food items, are crucial for providing immediate relief during emergencies. Each warehouse is capable of storing between 1,000 to 1,500 family food packs and 100 non-food items, bolstering the region’s disaster preparedness. Previously, the region relied on just two warehouses in Cavite, which often resulted in delays in aid distribution to remote areas.
