Three Weather Systems to Bring Rain Across the Philippines

·

MANILA – On Wednesday, various regions of the Philippines, including Metro Manila, are set to experience ongoing rainfall influenced by three distinct weather systems.

The shear line impacting the eastern parts of central and southern Luzon is expected to cause scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

Quezon and Camarines Norte are forecasted to see heavy to intense rainfall, while Aurora is anticipated to have moderate to heavy rain.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected in Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur, influenced by the easterlies.

The northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, will bring rain to Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that the moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods or landslides.

Additionally, PAGASA noted that the easterlies will cause isolated light showers in the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The remainder of the country can expect isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected along the coasts of Luzon, and the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao.

In other areas, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
