NEW INFRASTRUCTURE. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officiated the opening of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Candaba 3rd Viaduct in Pulilan, Bulacan on December 10, 2024. This new five-kilometer viaduct, positioned between two existing bridges, links the provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga, enhancing regional connectivity.

MANILA – President Marcos Jr. highlighted the significant role of the newly inaugurated NLEX Candaba 3rd Viaduct in driving economic and tourism growth in Central Luzon. Speaking at the event in Pulilan, Bulacan, he emphasized that the viaduct would improve NLEX’s capacity, alleviate traffic congestion, and facilitate quicker and more efficient travel.

Marcos underscored the viaduct’s alignment with the government’s ‘Build Better More’ initiative, stating it lays the groundwork for rural development. He noted that by enhancing the flow of goods, services, and people, the viaduct would stimulate economic growth, expand trade and tourism opportunities, and foster regional development.

The President also pointed out that the viaduct, now expanded to three lanes from its original two, can handle over 80,000 motorists daily, meeting the demands of a growing population and economy. He stressed that the structure is designed to endure natural challenges and meet contemporary needs, reflecting a commitment to safety, durability, and progress.

Marcos celebrated the completion of the viaduct as a demonstration of what can be achieved through collaboration, determination, and openness to new technologies. He commended the NLEX Corporation and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation for their efforts in completing the project ahead of schedule.

The Candaba Viaduct, a crucial connection between North Luzon and Metro Manila, was originally initiated by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. and opened in 1977. The new 3rd Viaduct is a vital addition to the NLEX network, serving as a primary gateway and essential link between Metro Manila, Central, and Northern Luzon, supporting increased mobility for commuters, tourists, and businesses across the regions.
