In a move to appreciate the tireless efforts of its barangay health workers (BHWs), the Sorsogon provincial government has disbursed an additional PHP1,800 to over 3,000 BHWs across 14 towns and one city. The distribution, which kicked off on December 5, 2024, was highlighted during a payout event in Sorsogon City. This initiative, separate from the regular monthly honorarium provided by their local barangays, underscores the province’s commitment to supporting its frontline health workers. Salvador Mendoza, the provincial information officer, emphasized that this additional financial support, which began in 2022 under the leadership of former governor and current Senate President Francis Escudero, is a recognition of the BHWs’ dedication to serving the health needs of every Sorsoganon.
