President Marcos Jr. to Enact Four Key Bills, Including 2025 Budget, Before Year’s End

LEGISLATIVE ACTION. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is poised to sign into law four crucial bills before the close of 2024, including the hefty PHP6.352-trillion budget for 2025, according to Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza.

During a recent interview at Malacañang, Mendoza revealed that a significant majority, between 70 to 80 percent, of the bills prioritized by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) have made substantial progress through both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Mendoza, who was present when Marcos signed three other significant pieces of legislation into law, including amendments to the Rice Tariffication Law, expressed optimism about the remaining bills. He noted that some are still under review in the bicameral conference committee, while others await action on the Senate floor.

He stated, “A few are still in the bicameral committee, and others are still in the Senate plenary. Hopefully, we can get these signed this year, perhaps up to four bills.”

While Mendoza confirmed the inclusion of the 2025 national budget among the bills expected to be signed, he did not disclose the identities of the other priority measures.

The LEDAC, chaired by President Marcos, convened at Malacañang on Monday, attended by key figures such as House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Senate President Francis Escudero.
