MANILA – The city of Manila has announced that it will continue to provide financial assistance to its vulnerable population until the end of December. Mayor Honey Lacuna confirmed on Monday that the city will distribute allowances to persons with disabilities (PWD) and minors with disabilities (MWD) up until December 26.
The distribution of these funds, which started on December 6, is governed by Ordinance 8991. This ordinance ensures that each eligible recipient receives PHP3,000, equivalent to PHP500 per month for the latter half of 2024.
Re Fugoso, head of the Manila Department of Social Welfare, advised beneficiaries to contact their local barangays or check the social media pages of the MDSW or the Manila Public Information Office for more information.
To facilitate the process, help desks have been established at the payout locations, providing details on the distribution schedules for each village and district.
Those unable to collect their allowances in their villages have until December 31 to claim them at the city hall.
Claimants must present their original and photocopied PWD or solo parent ID cards, along with barangay certificates.
Manila currently has 16,374 solo parents, 5,618 MWD, and 31,343 PWD. (PNA)
