In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) in Legazpi City reported the arrest of 125 suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs valued at PHP7.1 million during November. Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, the spokesperson for PRO-5, detailed that these results stemmed from 112 operations which led to the confiscation of 1.045 kilograms of shabu and 11.84 grams of marijuana. Additionally, 195 cases were filed in court against those allegedly involved in these illegal activities. The province of Albay topped the list with the highest value of seized drugs at PHP2.94 million, followed by Masbate at PHP1.53 million, and Camarines Norte at PHP1.52 million. Other areas reported lower figures, with Camarines Sur at PHP649,252, Sorsogon at PHP398,425, and Naga City at PHP54,072. Notably, Catanduanes reported no drug-related arrests during this period. Calubaquib emphasized that these efforts reflect PRO-5’s dedication to protecting the Bicol region from the harmful impacts of illegal drugs.
