Police Seize P4.5 Million in Marijuana, Arrest Key Suspect in Baguio City Operation

In a significant drug bust in Baguio City, law enforcement officials apprehended a high-value target and confiscated marijuana valued at PHP4.5 million. The operation took place on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. in the Barangay Burnham-Legarda-Kisad area.

The suspect, identified only as a 20-year-old male from Barangay Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet, was caught with three packages wrapped in brown packing tape. These packages contained approximately three kilograms of what is believed to be high-grade marijuana, known as kush, along with other non-drug items.

Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, head of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), praised the operation, stating, ‘The successful execution of this operation showcases the effectiveness of strategic law enforcement in our fight against illegal drugs. This effort helps in making our communities safer and more secure for families.’

The suspect is now in the custody of the Special Operation Unit of the Cordillera Administrative Region. The seized drugs have been sent to the Regional Forensic Unit in La Trinidad, Benguet for further analysis.
