OLONGAPO CITY – Authorities successfully apprehended a high-profile figure from the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, known as ‘Ka Dindo’ or ‘Tibo’, in Olongapo City over the weekend. The arrest, which took place around 5 p.m. on Saturday in Barangay Gordon Heights, followed a month-long surveillance operation led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Ka Dindo, who was listed on the National Most Wanted Persons list with a hefty bounty of PHP7.8 million, is facing numerous charges including robbery with double homicide, damage to property, and 15 counts of murder. He is also implicated in the 2004 attack on the Bayugan Police Station in Agusan del Sur, an incident that led to the deaths of two police officers and the theft of multiple firearms.
Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, the CIDG chief, emphasized that the capture of Ka Dindo significantly disrupts the operational capabilities of the communist group and underscores the government’s commitment to upholding peace and order. The Philippine National Police hailed the arrest as a crucial step in their ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and safeguard national security.
