MANILA – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has sadly confirmed the demise of two Filipino migrant workers in a devastating fire incident in Kuwait on December 2. The DMW has vowed to assist the bereaved families of the victims.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the DMW is committed to supporting the families affected by this tragedy. The fire broke out in a residential area in Al Adan, within the Mubarak Al Kabeer governorate, located south of Kuwait City.
Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Kuwait explained that the fatal incident was caused by the inhalation of toxic, non-breathable gases produced by the fire.
Dimaano also confirmed that the MWO is actively coordinating the repatriation of the deceased workers’ remains back to the Philippines.
The DMW has already begun providing both financial and emotional support to the families of the victims, who hail from Capiz.
