MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) successfully apprehended a Chinese national posing as a doctor and four others involved in the illegal sale of firearms in two distinct operations conducted in Pasay and Parañaque City.
The NBI’s National Capital Region unit captured Yu Jianxin, also known as ‘Zhang Lin’, during an entrapment in Pasay City. Jianxin was running the Tai An Clinic, which catered exclusively to Chinese nationals without the required licenses. The clinic was found to be operating illegally under the Medical Act of 1959 and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Investigations revealed that neither the clinic nor Jianxin had any valid licenses or pending applications for operation from the Department of Health or the Food and Drug Administration. Authorities seized various Chinese medicines and medical equipment from the clinic.
In a separate operation in Parañaque City, the NBI arrested Jerome Nuyque, Maximo Ayawon, Michael Lolong, and Nilo Barnacho for selling high-powered firearms, contravening the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The NBI received tips about a group selling weapons in the area, leading to an entrapment where operatives posed as buyers and purchased two M14 rifles for PHP290,000. The suspects were found with an assortment of firearms and ammunition, including a Daniel Defense M4 Carbine, a Bushmaster, a Shooters pistol, and a CZ pistol.
