In a significant crackdown on illegal drugs, law enforcement officials in Pasay City successfully intercepted abandoned parcels filled with high-grade marijuana, known as ‘kush,’ and ecstasy. The operation, which took place at the Central Mail Exchange Center on Domestic Road, resulted in the seizure of drugs valued at nearly PHP13 million.
Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, head of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group, reported that the operation uncovered 21 inbound parcels. These contained 7.79 kg of kush, estimated to be worth PHP10.9 million, and 1,229 ecstasy tablets, valued at PHP2.08 million.
Matta emphasized the importance of this operation, stating, ‘This successful operation marks a significant milestone in our ongoing fight against illegal drugs. It showcases our commitment to creating a safer environment for our communities. Every drug seizure enhances the safety of our neighborhoods.’
Following the seizure, the suspected drugs were meticulously inventoried, marked, and photographed. They were then forwarded to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Laboratory Service for detailed analysis.
This operation was a collaborative effort by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group, with the PDEG playing a crucial role.
