Extended Rail Schedules Announced for Holiday Season in Manila

MANILA – In response to the holiday rush, the three major rail lines serving the National Capital Region have announced extended operating hours. This adjustment aims to facilitate easier travel for commuters gearing up for Christmas and New Year festivities.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista announced that on specific days, trains will start running earlier and continue service later into the evening to enhance passenger convenience during the festive period.

These changes also provide rail staff with additional time to enjoy the holidays with their families.

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will commence its first trip at 4:30 a.m. from North Avenue Station from December 16 to 24 and on December 31. Additionally, MRT-3 will extend its service until 10:34 p.m. from North Avenue and 11:08 p.m. from Taft Avenue from December 16 to 23.

The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will see its earliest departures at 4:30 a.m. on December 20, 23, 26, and 27. LRT-1 will also extend its service until 10:30 p.m. from Dr. Santos Station and 10:45 p.m. from Fernando Poe Jr. Station on December 20 and 23.

The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will start its service at 5 a.m. from December 17 to 24 and on December 31. Regular operating hours will resume for LRT-2 from December 25 to 30 and from January 1 onward.

The MRT-3 operates between North Avenue and Taft Avenue, the LRT-1 runs from Dr. Santos Station to Fernando Poe Jr. Station in Quezon City, and the LRT-2 connects Antipolo to Recto.
