In a significant crackdown on illegal drugs, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) executed a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Ganayon, Lianga, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of 150 grams of shabu valued at over PHP1 million, along with two .45 caliber pistols, three magazines, and 19 rounds of ammunition.
Col. Harry Domingo, the head of SDSPPO, announced the details of the operation, identifying the arrested individuals as Archie Boquecosa Alpuerto, 44, from Purok Kalipayan, Barangay Bungtod, Tandag City, and Juvan Suarez Duero, 38, a carpenter at the Provincial Engineering Office in Surigao del Sur, residing in Purok Palmera, Barangay Mabua, Tandag City.
Domingo emphasized that this operation is a part of the intensified efforts by SDSPPO to combat drug-related activities within the province. Governor Alexander Pimentel praised the police for their effective action and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the anti-drug campaign.
The apprehended suspects are currently held at the Lianga Municipal Police Station and are set to be charged under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
