Iloilo City Set to Celebrate New Year with Spectacular Musical Fireworks at Drilon Bridge

·

Iloilo City is gearing up for a memorable New Year’s Eve, featuring a musical fireworks display at Drilon Bridge. The event, scheduled for December 31, promises a 12- to 15-minute show that will be visible from the Freedom Grandstand and free for all attendees. The renowned Dragon Fireworks, winners of the 2018 Montreal Fireworks Festival, will dazzle the audience with their world-class performance.

This celebration aligns with the national ‘Iwas Paputok’ campaign, aimed at promoting safer New Year festivities. Leny Ledesma, Executive Assistant for Special Projects, expressed excitement about the event, likening it to renowned New Year celebrations in cities like Sydney, Hong Kong, and New York. The festivities will kick off at 9 p.m. with live music, setting the stage for the fireworks spectacle.

In addition to the New Year’s Eve event, Iloilo City will host the ‘Calle Real Night Market’ from December 13 to 16. This market will feature over 100 vendors, local talents, and various forms of entertainment, including chorale competitions, folk dances, and performances by Teatro Sinag. The market will also showcase Christmas lights, a nativity story projection on the City Hall façade, and the launch of the Gastronomy Book, adding to the festive atmosphere.
