Misamis Occidental Sees 216% Surge in Tourism After Panguil Bay Bridge Opens

Misamis Occidental has experienced a remarkable 216% increase in tourist numbers following the opening of the Panguil Bay Bridge, according to Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. The bridge, which opened on September 27, has significantly boosted visitor numbers, with 2,119 tourists arriving during its first weekend, compared to the usual weekly average of 670. Governor Oaminal shared these statistics during a meeting of the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Council in Oroquieta City. He emphasized that the bridge not only connects Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental but also plays a crucial role in enhancing economic integration, transportation, and tourism in the region. Oaminal further noted that the bridge symbolizes the province’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth. Additionally, he highlighted Northern Mindanao’s efforts in connecting communities and supporting vulnerable populations through various social programs.
