Eight Davao Region Police Officers Fail Drug Tests, Removed from Duty

In Davao City, the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO-11) disclosed that eight of its officers tested positive for illegal drugs. Maj. Catherine Dela Rey, the spokesperson for PRO-11, revealed that seven officers were identified through random drug testing conducted on various dates, and one was caught during a buy-bust operation. While Dela Rey did not disclose the specific assignments of these officers, she confirmed they were part of the provincial police offices and the Davao City Police Office. Following the positive tests, these officers were immediately relieved of their duties and disarmed, as pre-charge investigations are now in progress. Maj. Dela Rey emphasized PRO-11 Director Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete’s unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and maintaining strict discipline within the force. In a separate but related incident, PRO-11 reported the seizure of 62.29 grams of illegal drugs, worth PHP471,396, during a 24-hour operation spanning November 24 to 25, which also resulted in the arrest of 12 drug suspects.
