In a significant boost to disaster preparedness, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 5 (Bicol) has successfully received a large shipment of family food packs (FFPs). Over the weekend, a convoy of 47 trucks delivered a total of 79,100 FFPs to various satellite warehouses throughout the region. The arrival of these essential supplies was reported on Monday by DSWD-5, highlighting the ongoing efforts to maintain a robust stockpile for emergency situations. The food packs, sourced from the National Resource Operations Center in Pasay and the Visayas Disaster Resource Center in Cebu, were strategically distributed across multiple locations. Specifically, 49,100 FFPs were allocated to the Bogtong and Pawa warehouses in Legazpi City, Albay, while 13,000 were sent to Matnog, Sorsogon, and 8,500 each to the satellite warehouses in Daet and Vinzons, Camarines Norte. These reserves are intended to be readily available for distribution to communities impacted by natural disasters and other calamities. DSWD-5 emphasized that the region is well-equipped with relief items, ensuring support for families affected by recent weather disturbances. The total value of the stockpiled relief supplies and standby funds available for disaster response in the region exceeds PHP147 million.
