The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) is set to provide services to over 23,000 residents of Calbayog City on November 22 and 23, 2024. The event, which was postponed from its original dates due to Super Typhoon Pepito, will feature a service caravan involving 48 national government agencies, in collaboration with Tingog Partylist and local offices.
Mayor Raymund Uy announced that approximately 2,000 representatives from various government sectors will be present to assist attendees throughout the two-day event. The participating agencies include the Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Health, Philippine Statistics Authority, Technical Education Skills Development Authority, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, and Department of Education, among others.
The BPSF will be held at multiple locations across the city, such as Northwest Samar State University, Christ the King College, and Calbayog City Convention Center. A key focus of the fair is to provide assistance to college students from private schools through the Integrated Scholarship and Incentives Program, facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Mayor Uy emphasized that these students were prioritized because those in state universities already benefit from free education and tuition.
Mayor Uy commended the financial assistance initiative spearheaded by the Office of Speaker Martin Romualdez and supported by the Marcos administration. Vice Mayor Rex Daguman urged residents to prepare for potential traffic congestion due to the large number of attendees from various villages. He also encouraged business owners to extend their operating hours, as evening events, including concerts, are scheduled.
The concert on November 23 at the Calbayog coastal road will feature performances by artists such as Bamboo, Marlo Mortel, Iyah Mina, Makki Lucino, and Viva Hot Babes. Over 100 members of the House of Representatives from different legislative districts and party-list groups are also expected to attend the BPSF.
