The Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) has broadened its medical assistance program to include Bangsamoro residents living outside the region. This initiative was announced by BARMM Health Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding, who emphasized that the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIPP) is now accessible to those in need, regardless of their location.
Dr. Sinolinding, who also serves as an ophthalmologist and a member of the BARMM parliament, expressed gratitude towards the 52 hospitals that have partnered with the program, including 31 public and 21 private facilities. The MAIFIPP aims to provide uninterrupted medical support to eligible patients who are financially challenged.
The program not only benefits the general indigent population but also extends specific support to decommissioned Moro combatants and their families within the region. Dr. Sinolinding stressed the program’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of all Bangsamoro people.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the MAIFIPP has successfully managed 119,877 cases, covering both admissions and outpatient services. Baby Norbaina Caludtiag, head of BARMM’s Malasakit Program Unit, confirmed that all partner hospitals are welcoming to eligible clients. To access the services, patients are required to present necessary documents to the social workers at their treatment hospitals.
