In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, Surigao del Norte Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers and Surigao City Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II distributed cash incentives to 107 senior citizens aged between 90 and 99 in Surigao City. The event, which took place on November 15, 2024, at the City Cultural Center, saw each elderly recipient receiving PHP25,000, totaling over PHP2.6 million in aid. Governor Barbers highlighted the significance of reaching such advanced ages and stressed that the incentives are designed to assist with the medical and nutritional requirements of the elderly. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s dedication to supporting vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly. Clarita, who attended the event with her 92-year-old grandmother, expressed gratitude for the financial support, noting its importance for her grandmother’s mobility and medication needs. Mayor Dumlao also thanked the provincial government for their ongoing commitment to the welfare of senior citizens in the city and the broader province.
