In a significant recognition of exemplary governance, 24 local government units (LGUs) in the Caraga Region have been awarded the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). The announcement was made by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in a recent press release from Butuan City. The prestigious award celebrates the commitment of these LGUs to transparency, accountability, efficient service delivery, and compliance with national standards and regulations. Among the recipients, three provinces stood out: Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, and Agusan del Norte. In the city category, Tandag in Surigao del Sur and Butuan were recognized. Additionally, 19 municipalities were honored, including Jabonga, Nasipit, and Tubay in Agusan del Norte; Esperanza, Loreto, Prosperidad, Sibagat, Trento, and Veruela in Agusan del Sur; Claver, Del Carmen, Santa Monica, and Tubod in Surigao del Norte; Carmen, Hinatuan, San Agustin, and San Miguel in Surigao del Sur; and Cagdianao and Tubajon in the Dinagat Islands. Surigao del Sur Governor Alexander Pimentel expressed immense pride in his province’s achievement, highlighting their ongoing dedication to the principles of good governance.
