In a significant community event, over 2,430 senior citizens from the island town of Cordova, Cebu, have been beneficiaries of a PHP3.6 million social pension distribution, as announced by Mayor Cesar Suan. The distribution was split into two batches, with the first batch receiving PHP2.3 million on November 11, and the second batch receiving PHP1.3 million on November 13 at the town’s covered court.
The first batch included 870 seniors from seven villages: Gabi, Alegria, Catarman, Poblacion, Buagsong, Day-as, and Bangbang. The second batch comprised 1,564 elderly residents from five villages: Ibabao, Pilipog, Dapitan, San Miguel, and Cogon. Mayor Suan emphasized that the distribution process for the second batch was smooth and efficient.
Mayor Suan assured that all eligible seniors in Cordova have received their pensions after meeting the requirements set by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO). He also announced that the next pension payout is scheduled for December, which will include a PHP1,500 pension covering October, November, and December, along with a Christmas cash gift.
In his address during the distribution, Mayor Suan reaffirmed his commitment to the ongoing support of the local social pension program, stating, ‘Fulfillment of the promise that never ends. While I still lead the leadership of the town, you can all guarantee that our local social pension will continue.’
