Bohol’s Agriculture Community Receives PHP6 Million in Aid Following El Niño Impact

In response to the severe drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, the agricultural community in Bohol province has been granted PHP6 million in financial support. The aid, distributed under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families (PAFF) program, was handed out at the New Capitol Building in Tagbilaran City. Roman Dabalos, the agricultural program coordinator for the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Bohol, announced that 602 individuals benefited from this initiative, each receiving PHP10,000. The beneficiaries hailed from various towns including Balilihan, Sikatuna, Duero, Calape, and Trinidad. The distribution aimed to assist farmers and fisherfolk in overcoming the hardships inflicted by the dry spell, which reportedly caused PHP29 million in damages to the province’s agricultural sector. Dabalos expressed hope that with the aid and additional support from the DA, the recipients would enhance their production levels.
