BACOLOD CITY – Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power), in partnership with Central Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), has begun full operations after receiving a provisional Certificate for Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). Bernard Bailey Del Castillo, the chief operating officer of Negros Power, announced the development following the ERC’s notice of resolution on October 16, 2024. With the CPCN in hand, Negros Power is now authorized to operate as the distribution utility across its franchise area. Del Castillo expressed satisfaction with the company’s readiness to serve. In Negros Occidental, Negros Power supplies electricity to Bacolod, Silay, Talisay, and Bago cities, as well as Don Salvador Benedicto and Murcia municipalities. Starting November 11, customer care centers will open in new locations in these areas, offering services such as bill deposits, new applications, addressing customer concerns, and facilitating bill payments. Residents of Talisay are currently advised to use third-party collecting agents (TPCAs) for bill payments. From November 16, Negros Power will issue its own electricity bills, though payments for Ceneco-issued bills can still be made at Ceneco offices. Customers receiving bills from Negros Power can pay at any Negros Power office or through accredited TPCAs. Del Castillo emphasized the company’s commitment to accuracy and transparency, noting that meter readers will photograph meters during field visits and bill deliveries to quickly resolve any issues related to meter readings.
