In Cagayan de Oro City, the Camiguin provincial government is pushing for residents to vigilantly track their water usage to dodge unexpected spikes in their water bills. Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo announced on Thursday that both households and businesses have the option to request an inspection from the Camiguin Water Company (CWC) to identify any leaks that could be driving up water usage and, consequently, bills. Romualdo emphasized the importance of understanding the true reasons behind any increase in water consumption, ensuring it’s not swayed by incorrect information. Jonathan Sarsonas, the General Manager of CWC, clarified that billing is directly tied to the readings from water meters, ensuring customers are charged only for the water they use. Ariel Balbutin, who heads CWC’s commercial operations, pointed out that undetected leaks are a common culprit behind high water bills. He encouraged consumers to reach out to the CWC office or use the company’s hotlines to report any concerns.
